Things that happen before you are born still affect you and people who come before your time affect you as well.

We're so wrapped up with egotistical things, career, family, having enough money, meeting the mortgage, getting a new car, fixing the radiator when it breaks—we're involved in trillions of little acts just to keep going. So we don't get into the habit of standing back and looking at our lives and saying, Is this all? Is this all I want? Is something missing?

The length of your days does not belong to you.

The secret is not to make your music louder, but to make the world quieter.

This is life. Things get taken away. You will learn to start over many times -- or you will be useless.

And I realized when you look at your mother, you are looking at the purest love you will ever know.
