There are actually real, flesh-and-blood people who have been harmed by powerful evildoers in the church. Who will show mercy to them? Who will show them the compassion they so desperately need? Will it be the Christians who are so busy "not judging" the ones who have committed egregious harm?

Walk and speak in truth and love. Live with love and empathy especially for the oppressed and struggling, with a willingness to listen with a compassionate heart. Speak truth, gently to the harmed and boldly to the ones who harm. This is surely the way of our Lord Jesus. He had no concerns about his speech being "positive" or "negative." He spoke the truth with love.

The disciples had been taught the Old Testament Scriptures their entire lives. They had followed Jesus Himself for three years. But only when He opened their minds did they begin to understand. Only when the risen Christ gave them eyes to see did they begin to recognize the shadow of the New Covenant in the Old, and to view the Old Covenant in the light of the New.

Repeatedly and consistently, the Bible calls us to stand with the weak and oppressed, to speak out for those who for one reason or another can't speak for themselves. God is a God of justice and mercy, and He calls us to walk in justice and mercy with Him, to have His heart, His compassion and empathy.
