As God is Spirit, not bound by space or time, but in His infinite perfection always and everywhere the same, so His worship would henceforth no longer be confined by place or form, but spiritual as God Himself is spiritual.

Prayer is not merely coming to God to ask something of Him. It is, above all, fellowship with God and being brought under the power of His holiness and love, until He takes possession of us and stamps our entire nature with the lowliness of Christ, which is the secret of all true worship.

He will make His holy promise an actual reality in our conscious experience: "Lo, I am with you alway[s]" (Matt. 28:20). Let us see to it that our faith in His blessed Word, in His divine power, and in His holy abiding presence, is the one thing that masters our whole beings. Then Christ will indeed manifest Himself, abide with us, and dwell in our hearts as His home.

We learn from Hebrews 11:4 that it was by faith that Abel offered an acceptable sacrifice, and his name appears first in the record of those whom the Bible calls believers. By faith Abel offered unto God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, by which he obtained witness that he was righteous (Hebrews 11:4).

Therefore every morning, present yourselves unto God as those that are alive from the dead. He will maintain the life He gave, and bestow the grace to live as risen ones.

There is need of a great revival of spiritual life, of true fervent devotion to our Lord Jesus, of entire consecration to His service. It is only in a Church in which this spirit of revival has at least begun, that there is any hope of any very radical change in the relation of the majority of our Christian people to mission work.

Isaac had to die. For Abraham, as well as for Isaac, only by death could freedom from the self-life be obtained. Abraham had to offer Isaac on the altar. That was not an arbitrary command of God. It was the revelation of a divine truth – it is only through death that a life truly consecrated to God is possible.

The one foolproof test of our holiness will be the humility we demonstrate before God and men. Humility is the bloom and beauty of holiness.
