And because he loves you, he will willingly interrupt or compromise your momentary happiness in order to accomplish one more step in the process of rescue and transformation, which he is unshakably committed to.

We have peace because we know that he will complete the good things that he in grace has initiated in our lives.

Without this, the Bible is a book of interesting stories and helpful principles, but it is devoid of any power to fix what sin has broken.

As parents we need to be rescued from our addiction to the law of our comfort, pleasure, success, and control. It's not our children's sin that is in the way of good parenting; it's our tendency to make parenting about our little kingdom of wants, needs, and desires, and our tendency to want our children to serve the purposes of our kingdom rather than submit to the purposes of God's kingdom.
