It will turn your thoughts to stories that make you feel weak and unworthy, as if you are an inconvenience, a burden on others, a failure, unattractive, incapable, or stupid.

That is, you can't get outside the present to make it an object of thought.

It is for this reason that your ego cannot let you become fully present, for the moment you are, it recedes and there is only awareness, only being. And this scares your ego to death, because it hasn't yet understood its relationship to awareness.

To me, wholeness is the key to aliveness. It is more than just physical vitality, it is radiance, coming from being at one with yourself and your experience. Life then flows through you.

Somehow, when we no longer feel in control, we become available to deeper aliveness.
