But God's Word has another use in the context of spiritual warfare and warfare prayer. It is a weapon to be used against our adversary—Satan. This weapon won't do us any good if we don't know how to use it. We must direct the Word of God at Satan in a spiritual attack. There are specific Scriptures that deal with specific attacks of Satan. We are to saturate our prayers with these passages. In this way we can bind Satan from our lives and from the lives of others.

A stronghold is an area of sin that has become part of our lifestyle. It may be a harmful habit (drugs, fornication, smoking), or it may be an attitude (rejection, loneliness, worry, doubt). We use a whole arsenal of rationalizations and speculations to support these habits or attitudes. But the knowledge on which these strongholds are based directly opposes God's truth (2 Cor. 10:5).

Some days the burdens may seem so heavy and the weariness so profound that you may wonder if God has forsaken you. Why would He allow you to experience such deep adversity? Yet do not despair. He has a clear purpose for your suffering: so you will know the Savior better and reflect His character.

Friend, your heavenly Father wants you to obey Him out of love, joy, and gratefulness—not out of obligation. He wants to pour Himself into you, shine through you, and give you a genuine love for all that He is doing so you'll join Him in His kingdom mission.

Friend, God wants you to see not just the path ahead, but the profound spiritual realities that are affecting your life. He is ready to help you! So when you sense the dark fears encroaching, run to Him. Because when He is your light, you will have nothing to dread.

Lord, my greatest hope is that others would see You in me. Magnify Yourself through me, my Savior, amen.

To find victory, you must ask God to tear down this stronghold. Name it out loud. Rebuke the lies that Satan has used against you, and tell God that you now accept the truth of His Word. A good Scripture to claim would be Romans 8:1.
