Americans are very patriotic and they want someone to support. In order to entice more fans, and to allow F1 to compete with Nascar and IndyCar, there needs to be an American driver.

In Formula 1 it's easier to dial out the balance issues and perfect it, whereas in IndyCar it's more difficult to dial out those characteristics with mechanical changes in the pits. Instead you have to drive around it.

For IndyCar racing, we really need to get it out to a wider audience so people can see just how exciting it all is. Once you've seen it and realize what it's all about, then it can be quite addicting.

But I have to say I'm incredibly proud of the Panther Racing National Guard Team, and in my IndyCar career there's not many races where I've honestly left the track feeling that we've executed everything perfectly. I think what I've found is that in IndyCar, the balance is a bit more all over the place compared with Formula 1! You have to get used to that and work around it. Again, as a driver, you can help the situation by the way you brake and apply the throttle to make the balance better.

Every lap I'm learning more about an IndyCar, because it's not an easy car to learn. It's tough to get your head around it and know how to use it in the best possible way.
