I have a great family, I live an amazing life.

The number one joy indicator, the one thing that will predict whether someone feels joy in their life or not, is the practice of gratitude.

The things that people were the most grateful for were the ordinary things in life. The sound of your spouse's laugh, the smell of morning coffee, the echo of children playing in the yard. The little things. In waiting for the big moments—the vacations, the retirements, the birthdays—we risk missing the experiences of life most worthy of celebrating.

When life is getting us down and we start to hear the refrain Why me? Poor me playing in our heads, we can stop and recognize that moment as an inflection point. We can move forward with the same attitude, or we can actively try to turn it around.

The gratitude of playwrights for actors is almost as rare as the reverse. Golden eggs have little time for the mucky feathers that cling to them.

It has taken me four years to figure this out. If we live long enough, we all will experience this. Don't ever predetermine how you think that you should feel on an anniversary of a tragic event in your life, such as a death of a loved one, or on a holiday after such an event. Each year starts out with 365 days, and I will be damned if I am giving up even one of them to misery.

A dear friend of mine recently asked me how did I find happiness after all that i have been through? After thinking about it for a while I realized that you don't find happiness, it is not hidden, it's right there out in the open. Happiness is a decision not something that is lost. You just have to recognize all that there is to be happy about and decide to be happy because everything in life is miracle.
