Once, for Paul, as for his contemporaries, Israel's election and the demand of the law stood side by side in unresolved tension. The letter to the church at Ephesus reminds us how easily the church's early days of passionate love for Christ can grow cold as the years go by. But Christ never meant for our duty to Him, even faithful duty, to replace our love for Him. The church's "first love" for Jesus Christ has to be continually nurtured, and serve as the genuine motivation for service to our Lord.

Our ultimate focus is on Christ and His game plan for our lives. But we are fools if we are ignorant of the devil and his schemes.

God loves the world. That's plain to see as we read His Word. Today, God loves the world through us, His Children of Grace. Christ is 'in' us and we are 'in' Christ. Christ is loving people and reaching out to them through us. He is making His appeal through us. He is reconciling people to Himself through us
