One night at Gibeon the LORD appeared to Solomon in a dream, and God said, “Ask, and I will give it to you!”

So behold, I plan to build a house for the Name of the LORD my God, according to what the LORD said to my father David: ëI will put your son on your throne in your place, and he will build the house for My Name.í

And the LORD gave Solomon wisdom, as He had promised him. There was peace between Hiram and Solomon, and the two of them made a treaty.

Therefore now, O LORD, God of Israel, keep for Your servant, my father David, what You promised when You said: ëYou will never fail to have a man to sit before Me on the throne of Israel, if only your descendants guard their way to walk before Me as you have done.í

And now, O God of Israel, please confirm what You promised to Your servant, my father David.

For You, O Lord GOD, as Your inheritance, have set them apart from all the peoples of the earth, as You spoke through Your servant Moses when You brought our fathers out of Egypt.”

then I will establish your royal throne over Israel forever, as I promised your father David when I said, ëYou will never fail to have a man on the throne of Israel.í

Nevertheless, for the sake of your father David, I will not do it during your lifetime; I will tear it out of the hand of your son.

Yet I will not tear the whole kingdom away from him. I will give one tribe to your son for the sake of My servant David and for the sake of Jerusalem, which I have chosen.”

But one tribe will remain for the sake of My servant David and for the sake of Jerusalem, the city I have chosen out of all the tribes of Israel.

But I will take ten tribes of the kingdom from the hand of his son and give them to you.

I will give one tribe to his son, so that My servant David will always have a lamp before Me in Jerusalem, the city where I chose to put My Name.

But as for you, I will take you, and you shall reign over all that your heart desires, and you will be king over Israel.

After three days, Jeroboam and all the people returned to Rehoboam, since the king had said, “Come back to me on the third day.”
