The True Self quietly observes the playground where thoughts take form, where games are played, and the gunas obeyed. These are the laws of light, activity, and inertia … of inspiration, action, and obstacles. The gunas are those things that can be known. Your mind ponders all their qualities, mistaking these for reality, for they gave birth to the mind. But the Self remains unmoved by the noise in the playground.

The Lord comes forth to restore that which had been disturbed of the balanced interworking of the three gunas and to make again such balance between them as shall enable evolution to go forward smoothly and not be checked in its progress.

All that you can do is to raise the level of sattva. And then when sattva's level is high, we have to wait one moment, any moment knowledge can dawn there. All that you can do to have sunlight in this room, is to open the curtains and keep the windows open. And when dawn comes, it just dawns. You have the sunlight inside. If you close your curtains, even if it's midsummer afternoon, you will still find your room dark, because the gunas are cloudy.

Worship and meditate on your consciousness, the same consciousness which is in all living beings, indicated by the five sense organs and three gunas which supports your living and presence. Continue doing your activities; they will carry on spontaneously, but give attention to the knowledge that you are. Hold your beingness. Self-knowledge will tell you everything you need to know.
