Chocolate and wine: there seems to be an ongoing competition to find out which wines will stand up to the generously mouthcoating sweetness of many chocolate desserts. I love chocolate, and I love intensely sweet wines, but I mostly find the prospective surfeit of the two combined a positive turn-off.
