the gospel is not at work in the life of church leaders, then it is highly unlikely it will be at work in the life of the church.

Since we are in Christ, we have a missionary identity. We are adopted into a missionary family. We serve a missionary God. Mission becomes part of our identity, because our Father is a missionary God and we resemble him as children of God. The church is a missionary church with missionary people who do missionary things for the glory of our missionary God. This is who we are, but it is also what we do.

But ministry growth is never a good indicator of a church leader's spiritual and emotional health.

From the time I can remember my mother kept me in church. I think my first recollection of any place, being anywhere was in a church.

Every Wednesday, my husband and I have a study group with our friends. I attend church. We try to devote time in the morning, say a prayer.

It seems particularly ironic that a church that at one stage, a long time ago, fought to redefine marriage should now be so opposed to these attempts to redefine marriage.
